Celebrating Students becoming Leaders

Excitement is high with ....increased curiosity, observations, discussions, cool math,  and experiments.

Physics, Chemistry, and Biology Laboratories have been added to the Tumaini Tutor Curriculum.

What Tools Help a Student Become a Leader?

Especially for an orphaned child, a stable and nurturing environment, like Tumaini Tutor, is essential to ensure basic needs are met through supportive programs. Additional necessary tools provided include Mentorship,  Leadership Roles, Learning Opportunities,  Collaborative Projects, Feedback, and Celebration of Success!

Vocational Study Club - Collaborative Learning

Saturday classes are held for Tumaini graduates and others to participate in and practice Goal Setting.   Guest speakers this month presented the variety of courses available in local training schools (computers to welding), how to choose a career, challenges facing today's African youth, good behaviors, and life balance.      "Club is like family we miss after graduation. We share ideas and focus on our future plans".

What are Tumaini Tutor Leaders doing now?

  • Suley, Class of 2017: Nyumbu Luxury Safari Camp Staff, Young Life Leader.

As the oldest brother of 3 Tumaini students, Suley attended Tumaini 3rd grade through secondary school as a recipient of a Tumaini Student Scholarship. As a student, he initiated our Scout Program and has assisted in several Healthcare Outreaches.

"Tumaini is part of my life that has helped me with school fees, uniforms, solar light, and sports. I can help care for my family and be a strong leader who inspires other children. I am confident to stand any place to talk with people about orphans and share Christ".

  • Johary, Class of 2020: Tumaini Teaching Assistant.

After graduating with top scores from upper secondary school, Johary was selected to study accounting at the university. We are proud to have her teach English and bookkeeping at Tumaini Tutor and mentor older students while saving money for university.

"Tumaini helps build my career and hope for my future progress. I have joy and gratitude for the kindness shown to me by Tumaini for the opportunity to teach. I love the students and teaching here".

  • Osbon, Class of 2017, BS Mechanical Engineering (2024).

The oldest of five children, all Tumaini students, Osbon attended Tumaini from 4th grade through secondary school with support from his Scholarship Sponsor. His passions are BIG diesel engines, choir, and assisting in Healthcare Outreach, where he goes by "Dr. Big Truck."

"It is my dream to have a good career in life and help my family. I am thankful for Tumaini to provide my education and this opportunity to live my dream and help my community".

  • Judith, Class of 2019: Tumaini Teaching Assistant and Athletic Coach.

Orphaned and raised by her grandmother, Judith joined Tumaini at age 11. Following upper secondary school, she was selected for the National Basketball Team. She teaches Tumaini English and coaches track, soccer, basketball, netball, and dance.

"I thank Tumaini Tutor for giving me helpful support and a place to learn when I was young. Tumaini became my home. I enjoy helping Tumaini children who need my help as a teacher and coach."

  • Irene, Class of 2022: Montessori Teacher Training College (2025)

Orphaned and raised by her grandmother, Irene joined Tumaini at age ten and has a beautiful daughter. Her education, primary through college, has been provided by her Health & Hope Scholarship Sponsor.

  • Zacharia, Class of 2023: Diploma Clinical Medicine (2026).

Orphaned and raised by his aunt, Zacharia was 12 years old when he began school. He came to Tumaini on his own in 7th grade.
